Show Notes

Would you go into business with someone who betrayed you?

Most executives would consider that an unnecessary risk.

But what if refusing to consider the opportunity had less to do with sound judgment and more to do with an experience you never fully resolved?

My guest, Dionne Nicholls-Germain, faced that very dilemma after a 17-year relationship marked by infidelity, the discovery of a secret child, and eventual separation.

What followed was an extraordinary series of events that challenged her understanding of forgiveness, opened unexpected business opportunities, and eventually led her into corporate boardrooms as the Chief Forgiveness Officer.

And it raises a question that deserves serious consideration among business leaders:

What does unforgiveness actually cost a business?

Some of the most damaging leadership decisions are perfectly defensible on paper.

An executive calls it risk management when it's really an unwillingness to trust. A founder calls it maintaining high standards when the team has learned that mistakes come with consequences no one wants to face. And what looks like careful decision-making may actually be fear of repeating a painful experience.

The troubling part? These decisions can appear reasonable, even strategic, while quietly costing the organization its best ideas, relationships, and opportunities.

How do you correct a business problem when the person making the decisions doesn't recognize they're contributing to it?

In this episode of The Estherpreneur Podcast, Dionne and I explore the relationship between forgiveness, executive decision-making, and the unseen barriers that can limit both personal and organizational growth.

We also discuss why self-forgiveness can be especially difficult for high performers, how to distinguish accountability from resentment, and what happens when God calls you to build something the marketplace doesn't immediately understand.

Drawing on Genesis 50:20, we examine how God can bring purpose out of betrayal without requiring us to excuse wrongdoing or abandon accountability.

Could something you've already survived still be influencing what you're willing to build?

Your Next Growth Strategy Might Not Be What You Think

Most business owners know what they want to achieve next. But how often do they examine the beliefs, decisions, and systems influencing how they pursue it?

That's the kind of thinking we challenge on The Estherpreneur Podcast.

Hosted by Edna Harding, author of The Ugly Side of Sales 2.0 and founder of Favor & Wealth, this podcast explores the intersection of biblical wisdom, business growth, and executive decision-making.

Through thought-provoking conversations and practical insights, we help CEOs, founders, and faith-driven entrepreneurs recognize what conventional business advice often overlooks.

At Favor & Wealth, we help business leaders grow and govern their companies through strategies grounded in biblical principles, because sustainable growth requires more than knowing what to do next. It requires the discernment to recognize what needs to change.
